When I first heard of tea tree oil, I never thought it could help with skin. It smelled fresh, like eucalyptus or like walking in a pine tree forest. So I thought at least it could be a nice cologne or perfume.

But as I learned from research and personal experience, I started to learn about its benefits for the skin. So should you use tea tree oil for dark spots on face?

Tea tree oil does help minimize dark spots on the face. Also known as melaleuca oil, it has antifungal and antibacterial properties that can tone, smooth out, and brighten your complexion. Apply a few drops to the dark spots every day for at least two weeks to help minimize and fade their appearance.

In this post, I’ll share with you my personal experience with tea tree oil, as well, why you should use tea tree oil for dark spots on face and body.

Tea Tree Oil for Dark Spots on Face

I first learned about the benefits of tea tree oil from my wife Dana, who would recommend it for her patients to soothe eczema breakouts and inflammation.

I tested it on eczema patches that I had on my body and noticed that the patches started to clear immediately after using the product.

So I was interested in finding out what was inside that was causing the scarring on my body to clear up so quickly. I looked at the ingredients, and one of the main ingredients was tea tree oil.

I did a little research on tea tree oil, and I learned that it is well known for its benefits for healthier-looking skin. So in the continued treatment of the eczema that I experienced, I began to not only use tea tree oil and my body butter, but I began actually spot treating dark spots on my face.

I took my tea tree oil, put a dab of it on my finger, and began applying it to the dark spots on my body. I almost immediately began to see a difference in color as they became lighter and lighter.

After about 1 to 2 weeks of applying it every day, the dark spots on my face had diminished quite significantly.

What I have found is that tea tree oil is the closest thing to a steroid cream that you would get from the doctor. I make that comparison because when using a steroid cream, I would typically see the dark spots become lighter and lighter, and that’s exactly what I saw with the tea tree oil.

My dermatologist wife one day had someone contact her who had nickel-sized dark spots all over her face. It was hard to tell because the woman was wearing makeup. She recommended treating it with tea tree oil, and after about 2 weeks of everyday use, the dark spot was 90% gone.

The tea tree oil to use should be all-natural 100% tea tree oil, like this NOW Essential Oils, Tea Tree Oil on Amazon:

Tea tree oil, also known as melaleuca, is recognized worldwide for its magical-like properties. It is known as an all-purpose skin enhancer that will help restore and protect your skin naturally.

Apply a few drops to your own dark spots on your face to see for yourself what it can do. If it feels too strong on your skin, dilute it first with some water. It is for external use only. Do not ingest it as it is toxic.

Anti-acne Treatment

One of the first things to know about tea tree oil is that it’s sourced in Australia, and it was often used as a number one form of medicine by the aborigines. So, it was oftentimes used for cuts and for treating wounds during those days.

Melaleuca (tea tree oil) is an essential oil that can be used topically. It can be diffused in the air. But it should not be taken internally because of some of the powerful medicinal compounds that are found here in tea tree oil as well. So let’s start off. Let me talk about some of the uses.

One of the main uses of tea tree oil is to use it to fight acne. So if you know anybody with acne, I would share this article with them or let them know that tea tree oil is the most powerful essential oil for fighting acne.

The acne will often develop into acne scars and dark spots. So the tea tree oil will help not only help with acne inflammations but also prevent dark spots later in life from forming.

My favorite natural acne remedy is mixing about two to four drops of tea tree oil with a teaspoon of Manuka honey or raw local honey; mix it up, rub it all over the skin, leave it on for about two minutes, and then rinse it off. It is the most powerful natural anti-acne treatment that’s out there today. It’s also very, very good for your skin tone and color.

Shingles or Chickenpox

Tea tree oil also has powerful antifungal and antiviral properties, making it great for treating chickenpox and shingles. So if a child has chickenpox or if an adult has shingles, you can do a natural treatment using tea tree oil.

You can mix it with some raw honey. Also, you could mix it with shea butter, coconut oil, or even if you just have a normal moisturizer such as CeraVe, and rub it directly on the area of somebody that has shingles or chickenpox.

Doing so will help relieve shingles and chickenpox, as well as brighten your complexion and allow dark spots to fade away.

Another thing I like to mix tea tree oil with is lavender essential oil. It’s really, really good for the skin. So again, if you have shingles or chickenpox, it’s good to use with shea butter and coconut oil. Also, if you have nerve damage, mix tea tree oil with helichrysum oil.

Fungus or Athlete’s Foot

The next big benefit of tea tree oil is for treating toenail fungus, athlete’s foot, or ringworm. Years ago, my mom was diagnosed with toenail fungus, and she tried different creams and treatments. Nothing seemed to work.

She prepared a 50-50 mixture of oil of oregano and tea tree oil. She started using it on her toenail fungus, and after two months, the fungus and dark spots on her feet were completely gone, and that’s because of the antifungal properties of both tea tree oil and oil of oregano are so powerful.

So again, if you know somebody, or you, yourself, have toenail fungus, ringworm, or athlete’s foot, mixing these essential oils with, let’s say, a coconut oil, and rubbing it directly on the area three times a day, has major, major benefits.

Dandruff

Tea tree oil is also great for treating dandruff and just, in general, any type of skin issue, including eczema and psoriasis. So if you have any type of flaking in dry skin or red dry flaking skin, eczema, psoriasis, dandruff, you can add it to shampoo.

You can actually add it to shea butter and put it on different types of inflammatory skin conditions. It is fantastic for those as well. For balding men, it is common to have dark spots on or near your scalp. The tea tree oil is perfect for using on your scalp to improve the look of the skin.
